Social Event — North Tenerife Excursion

Overview
On Thursday afternoon we will leave the IAC for a scenic excursion into the north of Tenerife, taking in the coastal village of Punta del Hidalgo for a group lunch by the sea, followed by a stop at the Mirador Pico del Inglés in the Anaga Rural Park — one of the most spectacular viewpoints on the island. We return to the IAC before 19:30.

Programme
13:00 Departure from the IAC
We leave from the IAC Headquarters in La Laguna. The drive to Punta del Hidalgo takes approximately 25–30 minutes via the TF-13 road through the northern foothills of Anaga.
~13:30 Lunch in Punta del Hidalgo
Punta del Hidalgo is a small fishing village at the northern tip of Tenerife, known for its fresh fish and seafood. After lunch, free time for a stroll along the coast — highlights include the iconic Punta del Hidalgo Lighthouse (the most modern of Tenerife's seven lighthouses) and the nearby natural rock pools.
Restaurants in the village (TBD):
- Restaurante Columbus Playa — seafront, Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine
- S.R. Charco de la Arena — local seafood specialist
- Restaurante Casa Tita — traditional Canarian home cooking
~16:00 Mirador Pico del Inglés — Anaga Rural Park
We head up to Pico del Inglés, at the summit of the Anaga massif, with nearly 360° panoramic views:
- South: Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna
- West: Mount Teide rising above the island
- North: the deep ravines and ancient laurisilva forests of Anaga
- On clear days: Gran Canaria and La Palma on the horizon
Free time for photos and a short walk. The PR-TF2 trail passes right through, giving access to one of the best-preserved laurel forests in the Canary Islands.
⚠️ Bring a light jacket — temperatures at the summit are noticeably cooler than on the coast.

Descent from Anaga back to La Laguna. Estimated arrival before 19:30.
